Discourses

Shri O. Venkatramana, is another distinguished resource person, who is providing insights of the Upanishads based on the commentaries of Adi Shankara. Verses of Taitrya Upanishad are discussed in detail with the parallels fromTirukural and from Bhagavad Gita.


Shri Venkatramana also explains the essence of Bhagavad Gita in detail by providing the meaning of each verse and the commentaries of Acharyas.
These classes which are also open to General Public, is held during Week end (Morning and Evening).

Bagavatham: Shri O.Venkatramana has also initiated the Bagavatham classes which is primarily reading the Bagavatham text in Tamil and wherever explanations are required, the same is provided by the Guru. The classes were initially conducted on Mondays and Tuesdays for 2 hrs in the morning.

Special Programmes

Two of our Senior Vidyarthees (viz.) Shri.Gopalan and Shri.Surianarayanan had crossed a milestone in their life and had performed BheemaRatha Santhi this year. To celebrate the occasion, Veda Siras arranged a Gana Parayanam by Mylapore Karpagambal Veda Patashala.

Parayanams

The Vidyarthees also join the Guruji in the Parayanams conducted in houses, temples and on other special occasions like Marriage/Sashtiapthapoorthi/Sadabishekam etc.. These Parayanams help to spread Veda chanting to the Aasthikas and creates harmony and peace
in the Society.

Till date, 158 parayanams have been performed in various places including Residence of Group Members, request from other well wishers, Temples and other places out of which about 60 parayanams were done during the last year.

Due to Pandemic and restrictions imposed on gatherings during this year, most of the Parayanams are conducted online. Arunam parayanam is conducted Online on Sundays and Achidram on Ekadasi days. Besides Rudram and Chamakam are recited in the Evening on Pradosham days

Temple Parayanams

The temple parayanams are also arranged at the request of temple Authorities or the individual Vidyarthees. The parayanams are conducted during Tirumanjanams/Temple processions/Special Occasions/Iyyappan Puja etc... Some of the temples chosen specifically are Divya Kshetrams, where Thirumanjanam is also arranged as a group activity or sponsored by one or more individuals.
About 15 parayanams have been conducted in Various temples during the last year. These include temples which are nearby and also at out-stations.

During the year 2020-21, due to travel restrictions, limited Parayanams were conducted at the following temples :

Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Koil:

Parayanams was conducted at Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple, Mettupalayam on the occasion of Sri Hanumath Jayanthi.

Karmugil Vannan temple at Kodambakkam:

Parayanams conducted in this temple on the occasion of Janmashtami with special Tirumanjanam.

Brahanayaki Samedha Abadhsagayeswarar temple at Tiruanniyur(Ponnur):

This is an ancient temple located in a village near Mayiladuthurai. As part of the planned activities, Mahanyasam and Rudram/Chamakam parayanam were rendered during the 4- kala abishekam to Swami and Ambal on the occasion of Maha Shivarathri.

Dharmapura Adheenam temple at T.Nagar:

Rudra parayanam was done at this Murugan temple on the occasion of Shivaratri.

Sri Bhuvaraha Temple at Sri Mushnam:

Special Abishekam was arranged by a Vidyarthee on the occasion of Panguni Utthiram at this ancient and swayambu kshetram. On this occasion, a limited number of our Vidhyarthees joined the Veda Parayanam during the Tirumanjanam in various sannadhis.

Vedic Scriptures

A session on "Fundamentals of Swaram in Vedas" was conducted by Shri Sethuraman, Co ordinator of VedaVMS website for the benefit of our Vidyarthees.

 

Our Guruji and Shri Venkatasubramaniam (member) have also taken up the task of correcting and uploading script of several veda portions (both Sanskrit & Tamil) in VedaVMS website. The scripts can be accessed at www.vedavms.in

Kritika Parayanams

The Krithika Parayanam is performed from the start of Krithika month and normally goes upto the middle of Margazhi. Veda Siras encourages the conduct of Krithika parayanam by Aasthikas and volunteers to perform in their houses on the date and time of their choice. This is to benefit the Aasthigas of the Vedha Gosham and spread the Vedas to the common public.
About 30 Krithiga Parayanams were held during last year in the residences of Vidyarthees and their friends and relatives . These Parayanams are normally of 1 – 2 hrs duration and the content is selected by Guruji taking into account the wishes of Grahastha.

​Due to Pandemic this year, Krithika Parayanam were held online daily in the Evening during the month of Krithika. However, Veda Siras also arranged Krithika parayanam by Mylapore Karpagambal Patashala on two days in Vidyarthees home adhering to social distancing

Veda Vicharam

A new initiative by Guruji Venugopalanji through "Questions and Answers" on Vedas and its learning and is meant to get the insights of Dharma Sastram. This is done primarily through a Whatsapp group with those who are interested in the subject.
